Omitting uncountable types and the strength of [0, 1]-valued logics

چکیده
We study a class of [0, 1]-valued logics for continuous metric structures. The main result of the paper is maximality theorem that characterizes these logics in terms of a model-theoretic property, namely, an extension of the omitting types theorem to uncountable languages.

First-order Gödel logics
First-order Gödel logics are a family of infinite-valued logics where the sets of truth values V are closed subsets of [0,1] containing both 0 and 1. Different such sets V in general determine different Gödel logics GV (sets of those formulas which evaluate to 1 in every interpretation into V ). It is shown that GV is axiomatizable iff V is finite, V is uncountable with 0 isolated in V , or eve...
متن کاملTruth Values and Connectives in Some Non-Classical Logics
The question as to whether the propositional logic of Heyting, which was a formalization of Brouwer's intuitionistic logic, is finitely many valued or not, was open for a while (the question was asked by Hahn). Kurt Gödel (1932) introduced an infinite decreasing chain of intermediate logics, which are known nowadays as Gödel logics, for showing that the intuitionistic logic is not finitely (man...
متن کاملCharacterization of the Axiomatizable Prenex Fragments of First-Order Gödel Logics
The prenex fragments of first-order infinite-valued Gödel logics are classified. It is shown that the prenex Gödel logics characterized by finite and by uncountable subsets of [0,1] are axiomatizable, and that the prenex fragments of all countably infinite Gödel logics are not axiomatizable.
متن کاملGeneralized Bosbach States
Bosbach states represent a way of probabilisticly evaluating the formulas from various (commutative or non-commutative) many-valued logics. They are defined on the algebras corresponding to these logics with values in [0, 1]. Starting from the observation that in the definition of Bosbach states there intervenes the standard MV-algebra structure of [0, 1], in this paper we introduce Bosbach sta...
متن کاملInterpolation and Three-valued Logics
We consider propositional logic. Three-valued logics are old: the first one is Lukasiewicz three valued logic from 1920 [8]. Gödel in [5] from 1932 studied a hierarchy of finite-valued logics, containing Gödel three-valued logic. Our main interest pays to Kleene three-valued logic [6]. Other threevalued logics will not be considered here. Let us agree that the three truth values are 0, 1 2 , 1 ...
